We are thrilled that Argos in Trowbridge has chosen their local Amber to benefit from their annual community fund. Staff from the store recently visited the centre to learn more about our work with disadvantaged young people and presented us with £600 of vouchers.
Sarah Lynes is the new manager at the Argos store which is just down the road from Bythesea Lodge. One of her first tasks was to decide what charity should receive their annual community fund. She asked the staff at the store and they overwhelmingly chose Amber to benefit. Sarah visited the centre with some of her staff to hand over the vouchers.
“We were honestly humbled by our visit to Amber. The staff do an incredible job and we could tell they really care about the young people living there and do everything they can to help them succeed. I understand that sadly many of the residents arrive quite broken but it’s amazing how, with the right support, they can move on successfully and have a good productive life. I spoke to a few of the young men living there and they seem really at home and positive about the opportunities Amber is giving them. I am not surprised – it’s a lovely, caring, nurturing place.”
Jennie Rubel, the Centre Manager at Bythesea Lodge said:
“It was such a pleasure hosting Sarah and the store staff, showing them around the centre and meeting some of the young people here so they could learn more about what we do. We are so pleased they chose us to receive the vouchers. After discussing it with staff and residents we have decided to spend the money on replacing some worn out equipment for our gym which has had a lot of use especially over the last 12 months.”
