Big Give Christmas Challenge – double your donation to Amber!

We are delighted that the Big Give has chosen Amber to take part in their Christmas Challenge again this year. We are looking to raise £100,000 in just 1 week! This campaign will kick off on Giving Tuesday – 28th November and will run until midday on 5th December. Funds raised will provide a temporary home and full support for 40 young people across our four centres (in Devon, Wiltshire, Surrey and Kent) through the coldest months of winter.

Stephen Ballantyne, Head of Fundraising at Amber said:

“What stands Amber’s support apart is that it is so much more than just a safe and warm place to stay. We offer full support and a programme of activities to help young people identify what has been holding them back. The aim for every young person at Amber is they move on into work and a sustainable place to live.

This year we are looking to raise a total of £100,000 from the Big Give Christmas Challenge. In order to access the £50,000 we have in the matching pot, we need to raise £50,000 in online donations. We hope everyone will give generously to help us reach our target and enable us to carry on the work we all feel so passionately about.”

Martin’s Story

Amber consistently achieves impressive success rates. Last year, 88% of young people left Amber successfully. Young people like Martin who moved on from Amber with a job in garden maintenance.

Before coming to Amber Martin was sofa surfing. He had run out of options and had nowhere else to go. Amber provided the haven Martin needed, when he was at his lowest.

“The Team Leaders at Amber have really supported me. They go above and beyond for people, it shows they care.

“Amber has given me a positive outlook on life. The structure is good and the routine helped put my life back on track.”

Martin has now moved on to a new area and is looking forward to starting his new job. He is feeling hopeful about his future and is planning to attend a university open day soon. He wants to explore a degree in Law and Criminology as he hopes one day to work in prison reform.
