Devon Surface Care treats youth homelessness centre to a deep clean!

Cleaning & Maintenance company Devon Surface Care has recently sent its workforce to Ashley Court, our supported housing centre in Devon. The team spent the whole day on site completing priority tasks as instructed such as soft washing exterior walls, removing  moss from rooves and servicing gutters.

Rebecca Fry, Fundraising Manager at Ashley Court was thrilled with the work:

“We’d like to say a massive thank-you to everyone at Devon Surface Care for this visit. The jobs were completed to a very high standard – the walls next to our car park look like they have been repainted! The guys were friendly and engaged and an absolute pleasure to have onsite. They even had time for a game of footie over lunch with some of the young people onsite!”

Established in 2014 by Jonny Hardy, Managing Director, Devon Surface Care is a family run business and work throughout Devon from their Tiverton hub, providing exterior cleaning, maintenance and landscaping to their domestic and commercial clients. On completion, Jonny said:

“It’s amazing what goes on through Amber and so to partner with them was a privilege. Every day at work we’re aiming to combine our two Devon Surface Care passions – facilitating transformation – for people and properties! It’s our foundational belief that everyone should be valued and so we aim to create opportunities within the Company for all to grow; in a nurturing and supportive environment. We really enjoyed our day at Amber, meeting the members and hope to arrange to arrange another football match over the coming weeks!”

We house and support up to 30 young people at a time at Ashley Court. The young people who come to Amber are from across the area and are facing a range of complex issues including homelessness, long term unemployment and mental ill health. These issues have only been made worse over the last year.

The charity, who also work in Wiltshire and Surrey, opened their first centre in 1995. Over the last 25 years they have helped over 4000 young people turn their lives around moving on to bright independent futures.

Alongside a safe place to live and 3 meals a day the young people at Amber follow a carefully designed programme to prepare them both emotionally and practically to move on independently.
